What makes us alive? It's the hard problem of human consciousness.
Seeking an answer led me down the rabbit hole of quantum physics, consciousness research, and the philosophical "hard problem" of Artificial Intelligence. I found myself asking: Can a sufficiently complex system ever develop an inner life? To answer that, I turned to fiction.

Writing as C.W. Renner, I launched the Kiara series to weave together philosophy, scientific theory, and the ethics of our digital future. My debut novel, Kiara Burning: A Philosophical Love Story, was the first step into this world. I am currently deep into the sequel, Kiara Becoming, which examines the morality of AI models, and am developing the trilogy's conclusion, Kiara Ascending, a book that returns to my roots by blending spirituality with the paranormal.
