⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Left Without Answers by Cori Nevruz

First of all, thank you to Inside Story and Cori for handing me this emotional hand grenade and politely watching me pull the pin.

Personal note before we go any further: this story deals with a teenager’s suicide due to bullying. Don’t go into this lightly. Don’t read it on a “cute cozy evening” unless your idea of cozy includes existential dread and staring at the ceiling afterward.

This book didn’t just break my heart. It didn’t even politely crack it. It shattered it. And then it had the audacity to end while I was still standing in the debris going, “Wait… that’s it? No. Absolutely not. I was not emotionally prepared for that to be the last line.”

And here’s the thing — it didn’t need more. That’s what makes it worse. I just wanted more because I was in it. I wasn’t just reading. I was there. A silent shadow in every room. Watching. Listening. Hurting alongside them.

Hank was bullied beyond the breaking point. And he broke. That’s the blunt truth. And the aftermath? That’s where this book lives. Not in shock value. Not in dramatics. In grief. Raw, messy, ugly grief.

As parents. As a best friend. How do you survive that? How do you breathe in a world where your child or your person chose to stop?

Everyone handles it differently. Some cling to each other. Some fall apart. Some look for someone to blame because blame feels easier than sitting with the unbearable silence. And this story doesn’t sugarcoat that. It shows how grief can either glue people together or quietly rot them from the inside.

The mother wants answers. She thinks she knows where to point the finger. But here’s the uncomfortable truth this book whispers in your ear: sometimes answers don’t fix anything. Sometimes they don’t heal. Sometimes they just carve the wound deeper.

I was angry reading this. Angry at the bullies. Angry at the system. Angry at certain choices made in the aftermath. There’s one character decision in particular that had me wanting to shake someone through the pages — and not everyone will agree with me on that. But I’m not going to spoil it. You’ll know when you get there.

This story wrecked me. Quietly. Thoroughly. It left me sitting there in that heavy, suffocating silence that only really good (and really painful) books manage to create.

Four stars. Not because it wasn’t powerful — it absolutely was — but because there are books that cut just a fraction deeper into my soul. This one left a scar. Just not the deepest one.

Still… I won’t forget it anytime soon. And honestly? That says enough.
