The Twisted Dark: A DudleyTown Horror
Cursed ForestClaustrophobiaDemonGhost HuntingMulti Pov
DudleyTown Connecticut is a real place.
DudleyTown Connecticut is illegal to visit.
Police say that’s because it’s private property, but locals know it’s because the land is cursed.
When Bailey adventures with her friend Marek into the forest for a paranormal investigation, her boyfriend Simon begrudgingly comes along. Sharing hobbies is what partners do, right? Plus, it’s all stories, so someone has to be there to keep the group grounded.
Except as night falls, those stories become startlingly real. Whispers in the fog, dark shapes between the trees, and soon reality feels like it’s moving further and further away. Is the abandoned mine the perfect refuge, or a shadowy trap?
Can they make it out alive, or will they fall victim to the horrors of DudleyTown?
Centuries of stories have been told about DudleyTown, and now you are in the middle of them. Step into this twisted dark at your own risk and decide for yourself what is fact and what is fiction.

Bailey and her friend, Marek, love to explore, and their adventures are plastered all over the internet. When they hear about DudleyTown in Connecticut, the draw is too much to resist. Stories of strange sounds, unexplained disappearances, and mysterious figures plagues the land. Who could resist? Bailey goes to investigate with her boyfriend, Simon, and Marek to document their findings. Upon arrival, the deserted area is drenched in fog, and the three intrepid explorers set up their cameras and begin to explore. Whispers in the dark call to them. A dark figure stalks the team. As the night wears on, Bailey, Simon, and Marek must hold onto their wits as reality around them begins to disappear. Will they become DudleyTown's newest residents?
I have to start off by saying the town name caught my eye. Obviously it was going to be a great book on that name alone. This is my second story by Erica Damon and I can say she has a way of really going hard on the tension and drama. I couldn't wait to see where the night went. The scenes were vivid and I genuinely found myself caring if a character survived. The claustrophobic atmosphere through the last half of the book had me on the edge of my seat, and I felt as if I was right next to the unfortunate explorers as they try to navigate their surroundings. The ending drops and it leaves you with just enough to feel satisfied, while still allowing me to piece together what's next. I'm starting to think I need to change my last name.
This story had a bit of everything: tension (lots of tension), drama, and just enough intrigue to keep me on my toes. I really enjoyed it and thoroughly recommend this to anyone who likes the type of scary story that leaves you feeling isolated and gasping for air.

“The Twisted Dark” by Erica Damon is a chilling paranormal thriller that blurs the line between myth and reality. Set in the real-life cursed woods of DudleyTown, Connecticut, the story follows Bailey and her friends as a simple paranormal investigation spirals into a waking nightmare.
Whispers in the fog, shadows in the trees, and a growing sense of dread make this an immersive, spine-tingling read. Erica Damon blends folklore and fear perfectly, keeping you questioning what’s real until the very end.
If you love dark, atmospheric thrillers that keep you on edge, this one’s a must-read.
