The C'raether evolved alongside mankind, ultimately to hunt them as prey. Few in number, they remain hidden within human society. They take human lives and souls without qualm, feeding on blood and memories to sustain their immortality.

The Brothers, as they call themselves, selected a new recruit. That was me: Ethan Westwood; erstwhile local rock guitarist, with an erratic drug habit and multi-layered personality; a confused soul, oddly out of phase with the world.

I led a life of addiction, betrayal and self-hate interlaced with malice, cruelty and the pure joy of the kill. Reality and dreams seem blurred and indistinguishable. Just how many of me are there? Am I human, or am I C'raether?
