The Teacher's Secret
A Completely Unputdownable Psychological Thriller Packed with Jaw-dropping Twists
On a sunny Friday afternoon, beloved teacher Mrs. Walker and her eight-year-old son wave goodbye to their friends in the school playground. But they never make it home...
It's only been a week, but the bright little faces at the picture-perfect school I've stepped into have captured my heart. Their big doe eyes, their paint-covered fingers and clinging hugs. They've been through so much, with their favourite teacher and classmate still missing...
I'm doing all I can to help them adjust, but I can't avoid the swirling rumours that say Cate Walker's charismatic husband, Oliver - our headteacher - is involved in her disappearance. The thought makes me shudder. But the more I find out about Cate, the more I wonder if she was also hiding a terrible secret...
I'm determined to uncover the truth about what really happened. I have to protect these other innocent children from the same fate - it's my duty as their teacher.
That is, until an anonymous note turns up threatening me if I don't stop looking. Until my home is broken into while I sleep.
I know the longer I stay here, the more danger I'm in.
But whoever's trying to scare me doesn't know who I am - or why I'm really here.
Or just how far I'll go to protect the people I love...
An absolutely gripping psychological thriller, where no one is who they seem, that will get your heart pounding! Perfect for fans of addictive page-turners like The Housemaid, The Family Across the Street and The Family Upstairs.

This book is a gentle reminder that love lives in the little things—a smile, a kind word, a quiet moment shared. The poems are easy to read, but they linger. A few lines made me pause, not because they were dramatic, but because they felt true. It’s the kind of book you can finish in one sitting and still carry with you.
If you’re looking for poetry that’s genuine and sincere, this is a lovely place to start. Just a gentle nudge to notice what matters.

"Broken" is not for the faint-hearted. It's a deeply emotional book that leaves you questioning the nature of relationships, control, and self-worth. Dante, as a character, infuriates with how little he values truth, soaking in appearances instead. His gaslighting and manipulative ways brought back memories of people I’ve known, making it intensely relatable and frustrating. He juggles facades, portraying the perfect husband while isolating Anabella with subtle control.
Anabella, in contrast, embodies resilience, trying to navigate the maze of emotionally draining circumstances. She thrives beneath Rae Willows' narration, which embodies the essence of Anabella's character perfectly. Willows brings authenticity and depth, enhancing the vivid picture of Anabella’s strength and vulnerability alike. The audiobook experience heightened my connection to the character's mental battles thanks to the immersive voice acting.

It wasn’t my favorite read, but I still enjoyed it. It’s definitely dark and heavy, so you kind of have to be in the right headspace for it. I found myself taking breaks and joking to myself just to lighten the mood a bit, because wow, this story does not hold back. It’s much more about survival and endurance than happy endings.
Overall, I’m glad I listened to it. The audio format worked well for this story and kept me intrigued all the way through. If you like darker, emotional reads and don’t mind something that leans more serious than comforting, Broken is worth checking out. Just maybe balance it out with something light afterward.

I loved the focus on connection and trust, especially as the characters are forced to confront old truths and shifting motivations. The twist genuinely surprised me, and the setting felt vivid and claustrophobic in the best way. This was my first Rachel Hawkins novel, and it definitely won’t be my last. A strong, compelling read that I highly recommend.

Wow! What a book. Where to start... I think we can all relate to Darcy a little. I'll try not to give too much of the story away. Darcy needs a date for the office Xmas party, her hilarious best friend, Mags suggests an escort!
Darcy is at first appalled, but with pressure to produce a gorgeous man on her arm, and time dwindling; she is left with little choice. She has to show the office b*****s that she does have a boyfriend.
Ethan is...well he's probably every woman's fantasy. Darcy is a bag of nerves. But they pull it off, up yours to the two V's as she sways with her hot man on the dance floor. For once all eyes on her for the right reasons.
It truly is the night of her life and it doesn't end there! The sex scenes are smoking hot! But this book is more than that. I literally could not put it down. You are sucked into the pages and become a part of this book. It's more than just sex, Ethan has a past. There's twists and turns a plenty and true love doesn't run smoothly.
I can definitely see this book as a movie. I loved the writing style. The reviews persuaded me to have a peek. The Author writes in a gripping way, it's so cleverly written and I loved the final twist.

The Refugee by Kim Hopkinson
First things first: thank you, Kim, for trusting me with an early copy of this book. Genuinely. It’s an honor, and I don’t take that lightly. Being invited into someone else’s story—especially one this heavy—isn’t something I ever breeze past.
And heavy it is.
This book hit me in a way I didn’t see coming. Not loud. Not dramatic. More like that quiet, creeping sadness mixed with irritation and anger that sits in your chest and refuses to leave. The kind where you finish reading and just… stare. Without spoilers, I can’t go into the why, which is frustrating because I really want to. I’m honestly curious how other readers feel after this one, because it did things to my head I wasn’t prepared for.
It’s heartfelt. It’s bleak. And yes—it’s unsettling in that uncomfortable, almost intimate way. At times it feels like you’re standing far too close inside a killer’s mind, peeking into thoughts you weren’t meant to see. Not flashy horror. Just quiet, psychological unease that crawls under your skin and stays there.
Now, the critic in me needs a moment (I apologize in advance).
For me, the pacing was a little too fast. At times I felt like I needed to sprint just to keep up—jumping from one headspace to another without a breath in between. I’m not asking for a slow burn that takes a hundred pages to blink, but sometimes it’s okay to let moments sit. Let them hurt. Let them rot a little. That’s why this lands at four stars for me. Purely personal. No pitchforks required.
That said—once this story had me, it had me. From the very first sentence. I didn’t want to stop. I just wanted answers, closure, damage. And I’m glad I finished it, because it delivered exactly the kind of psychological bruising my twisted soul apparently craves.
The mental aftermath is what stuck with me most. Long after the final page, I was still thinking about it. About choices. About accountability. About how easy it is to shift blame instead of owning the mess we create.
What can I say—we should all probably own our mistakes before they own us.
This book is absolutely worth reading. Don’t let my inner critic scare you off—that voice is loud but not malicious. The Refugee deserves recognition. It’s different, yet oddly familiar in a way that feels strangely comforting if you’re someone who thrives on psychological stories that leave a mark.
If you like your books dark, emotionally bruising, and lingering long after you’re done—this one belongs on your shelf.
