This had me seeing shadows that weren’t there.

I am almost embarrassed to admit this was my first book by J D Setzer, and now I'm wondering what on earth took me so long. The story pulled me in immediately, and by the halfway point I was literally on the edge of my seat. I lost count of how many times I said WTF out loud. I knew from the title that there would be supernatural elements, but I was not expecting the direction this book takes, and I was here for every twist.
The atmosphere is so immersive that you can picture every scene and feel the tension rising around you. The mystery box, the VHS tape, the door in the woods, the way reality starts to warp bit by bit, it all builds in a way that makes you forget you are reading. You just fall into the story and hang on. This one has the perfect mix of eerie, emotional, and unsettling, and now that I have finally read J D Setzer, I will definitely be picking up more.
