Xmas Thrillers: Frostbite

~Elisa D. Daniels, Jessica L. Sorensen, Nadija Mujagic, Michelle Powers, Mark Jenkins, Hayley Bernard-Ryan

When thinking of Christmas, the last thing I think of is chilling thriller's….until Xmas Thrillers: Frostbite hit my mailbox! Now, all I can think about is how long will it take this group of talented authors to put together volume 2 and 3 and……….

Every. Single. Story. In this anthology is pure bone-chilling, holiday thrills! The hardest choice for me to make once I've finished an anthology is this: how do I write the review? Anyone who has read more than a handful of my reviews, can easily see that I tend to follow a follow a similar format for just about every review. And while that is great and relatively easy to do for a single story/book, if I were to write a review for every story in an anthology, well...

I'm a bit wordy. Yeah. I said it.

But THIS anthology? Every single one of these stories deserve a review as unique as their story!! So grab your coffee (or drink of choice), a snack, and buckle up buttercups, this might be a bit longer than my typical reviews posted (I am going to try and keep each one brief, but, yeah, see above…LOL).

Frost and Fate

~Elisa D. Daniels

A Christmas party. A cheating spouse. A plan. A plan that doesn't quite work out how you think it will. Jesse has an inkling her husband is cheating, lays out a plan to bust him but little did she know how much she would really be finding out. This is one that makes you think about when deciding who really has your back? Daniels has crafted a story that will make you question those closest to you, then question them again. A cast so twisted you won't know what is truly happening til the end – seriously, don't think you've got it figured out, I was so wrong.

Jollyland

~Michelle Powers

A podcaster. A holiday themed amusement park. Urban legends. Santa's workshop contains more than just urban legends, it contains the legend of Santa. Powers takes us for a wild journey exploring the shut down amusement park. Question is, when Santa rings his bell do you answer? Main character, Annabelle's personality draws you in from the start – she makes you want to know and experience this adventure alongside her. One thing for sure, amused is the last emotion she felt.

A Christmas to Kill For

~Nadija Mujagic

Christmas dinner preparations. Cemetery across the street. Dinner with a homeless guy. Not exactly the Christmas Eve plans Jesse had, but it's what she ended up with. Mujagic crafts a story of infidelity, a killer for hire, and plans gone awry. Unreliable characters fill this spin-chilling story with twists that will surprise you.

Christmas Roulette Massacre

~Jessica Lynn Sorensen

A distaste for Christmas. The one that got away. A deadly Christmas game. Coming home to spend what may be her last Christmas with her dad who has cancer, Miranda didn't expect to be drawn into an intriguing Christmas game. Sorensen draws you in from the first word and keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next shoe to drop. Drawing on nostalgia not only brings out the best in Miranda, but it also draws out the monster

The 13th Floor

~Mark Jenkins

Christmas traditions. Blizzard like conditions. A mysterious hotel. After losing his family, Daniel also lost his conscience when it came to investing his clients’ money. None for the richer in his personal life, he's now snowed in at a mysterious hotel where things aren't what they seem. Jenkins has given us a story of heartbreak, lessons, and redemption – not to mention chills that will make you think twice before stopping at that roadside motel. Daniel is written with emotion, relatability, and vulnerabilities drawing real emotion from readers.

The Elves Made Me Do It

~Hayley Bernard-Ryan

A nursing home with a brick through the front door. A rookie homicide detective. Bodies piling up. The only clue left at the crime scenes is a note saying, “The Elves Made Me Do It.” Left with no idea what that means, detectives are on a manhunt hoping to stop “the elves" before more bodies show up. Bernard-Ryan gives us a whole cast of characters to follow. While some may only make a brief appearance, their roles are equally important. Multiple PoV's keeps the story moving quickly leaving readers grasping to solve the mystery of “the elves.”

I would like to thank the authors of Xmas Thrillers: Frostbite for an early preview of the book. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation, current or future, by the authors or publisher for a fair and honest review.
