The Shadow Gentleman

Robin Alden Howard
You don’t sign up for this life because it’s tidy. You sign up when the wreckage demands removal.
After Harrison’s death, Eli Mercer stumbles into a closet full of skeletons. Black drives, burn marks, and routes used by an old enemy, the Syndicate.
Instead of cashing out, Eli does the one thing he swore he’d stop doing: he builds a team of misfits who can’t sleep until somebody pays. There’s Beckett the explosives artist, Marcus who takes the long shot and never blinks, Nathan who can make servers surrender secrets, and Ava, the one who can outshoot anyone and outstare Eli’s ghosts.
They take jobs that don’t make headlines—until the ledger drags them into a loud, ugly fight. Every decision costs something. Every secret has teeth. And when General Vance offers a wing of the law as cover, Eli must choose between neat victory and messy justice. If you like your thrills tight, your friendships ragged, and your explosions personal, this one’s for you.
Warning: Violence, betrayal, and one tough dog who refuses to die.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review

Such a well-written story, and the author’s unique way of describing scenes really brought everything to life. The visuals were so vivid that it felt like I was right there in the moment with the characters.

I absolutely adored Cap — he was easily my favourite. I fell in love with him straight away… well, except on Tuesday 🤣 His personality added so much charm and warmth to the story.

A brilliant read from start to finish. Beautiful writing, great characters, and a narrative that sticks with you. Five stars!

About the Author

I write stories that explore the complexity of love, pain, and survival. My characters are flawed, real, and unapologetically human, facing challenges that force them to confront their deepest fears and desires. I don’t shy away from the dark moments, but I always find a way to bring light into the narrative—whether through a quiet act of kindness or a snarky comment at the right moment.

I’ve always believed in the power of resilience and the importance of embracing both the beauty and messiness of life. My books are about people who’ve been through the ringer and come out the other side, scarred but stronger. Whether they’re surviving trauma, navigating complicated relationships, or finding their own path in the world, there’s always a thread of humor to cut through the tension, making the darkness a little easier to bear.

My stories are about the battles we all face—those internal and external—and how they shape who we become. They aren’t easy, but they’re real. If you love characters who don’t just survive, but thrive in the mess of life, you’ll find a home in my books.

When I’m not writing about resilient, complex characters, I’m enjoying life with my family and finding new ways to get inspiration from the world around me. My journey as a writer is as much about discovery as it is about sharing stories that matter.
