This was an interesting dark fantasy with a fierce Female lead, shadow magic and slow burn romance. The chemistry between Lyra and prince Oberon is nicely done. I also liked how the author slowly revealed Prince Oberon's real intentions. An interesting tale of magic and fighting for what's right.

This book kept me guessing, never knowing what to expect next.
It's slow paced to start, but picks up near the end. It touches on trauma and overcoming it, with a slow burn romance that feels oh so sweet.
Lyra escapes imprisonment only to be captured again immediately, but when she wakes up, everything isn't quite what it seems. She is offered her freedom, but how is the question.
Through training and time spent together, friendships and more are built.
But everything isn't black and white or clear as day, someone is betraying the rebellion, but no one seems to know who, even when it seems obvious.
And the ending will leave you wanting more then you would have expected.

I had so much fun reading this book. This is the kind of book you must read if you like your magic a brooding MMC and a good tension between the main characters. This book will pull you in. What I really liked where the side characters. They gave the story and extra dimension. And there is the Cliffhanger.... can't wait until the story continues.

This was such a good book with world building that brought everything together.. Lyra is someone special but she believes she's not and just being held due to her magic. She escapes only for Oberon to find her and keep her so she recovers and gains her magic. He brings in Keagan to help him. Oberon is growing feeling for Lyra and she is also. Keagan meanwhile has some tricks up his sleeve to bring everything crashing down.. Oberon is trying to return the kingdom to a healthier environment while his father destroys all.. Keagan's loyalty is what hangs in the balance. Lyra coming into her own hangs in the balance. Lyra's growth and trust in this book pulls you in.

This is a really good dark fantasy, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book! It starts in true fantasy fashion, where you’re not sure what’s going on but as the book goes on, everything starts fitting together and you’re hooked. Oberon is the MMC, a broody prince with shadow magic. Lyra is the MFC, she had been imprisoned and tortured for a century, her magic is buried deep from not using it. Ash and Zander are great side characters. Ash is so funny, and Zander is just a badass. I loved the part where Ash and Zander were training and Ash used his gravity magic! They are all working together in rebellion of the evil king and his army. Shackled By Shadows has everything from spice, fae, magic, awesome battle scenes, characters you love and some you can‘t stand (cough, that’s you Keagan!) I love the storyline and world building in this book.

I had no words for a moment. That was like an exhilarating rollercoaster ride where you have no idea which way is up nor down. At first, there was confusion, but trust it will be explained the further along you go. Lyra has been on and is going through an unthinkable journey, and still, I want to know more about her life before everything began to crumble around her. Oberon is playing a dangerous game and honestly idk what made him think he could do it or honestly how he's held on this long but everything begins to crumble and you have no idea how things will pan out. This story contains torture, capture, arrogant males 🙄, passion, laughs, love, and a whole hemp of betrayal. Honestly, what more could you ask for?
