Deal with the Devil (Il Diavolo Mafia #2)

After devouring the first book, I eagerly dived into Deal with the Devil and found myself conflicted and confused. I love that we pick up right where things were at the end of Tempted, where Portia moved to D.C and was making the best of her situation. When she and Rafael crossed paths again, her fiery attitude and refusal to fall back into old patterns was such a girlboss moment. Portia remained the same as in the previous book for the most part, with a little character growth.

I was confused during Rafael's chapters as I felt disoriented by being in one scene and suddenly thrust into another area/situation, where he had no recollection of what he had done. It makes sense later on, but it can be a bit jarring so make sure you pay attention during your reading. It was interesting to see the Il Diavolo aspect and the mental health rep was done well.

Overall, it was a decent follow-up to the first book, with even more twists and thrills that kept me guessing and gasping as Portia and Rafael's story continued.
