I was kinda disappointed. I rather enjoyed the first book and was curious how it would end. But as others have noted, this one felt disjointed, and some things weren't explained (Harlow? Why do we like him now?)
Also, I feel like a big boat was missed with Isaiah, and the author didn't know what to do with him. Bad guy, then sympathetic, then evil? All the dude wanted was some love and ok it would have been schmultzy but also very fitting of the whole "love conquers all" to have worked out something with him. Thank him for the dreams. *Something*.
The other thing that really annoyed me was Jude and Ki's forced angst. Two or three chapters of Jude lusting after her but can't touch her cause their magic fights, and then they get to the temple, and it's fine to touch again. Aannnd, that whole opposing magic thing never comes up again.
What was the *point*? That could have been entirely removed, and the plot would not have suffered.
So kind of annoyed. The cool world building, God lore, and history that was built up in the first book gave way to angst, brooding, and a lot of meandering about. This led to some weird pacing, dropped threads with some characters and a lot of me going "ok guys, we get it, you're lusty 19 year Olds."
Loved Jake, though I wish Liam had come sooner.
