Typical of Sorensen's style, Fading Secrets plunges us straight into the chaos and intensity! Brace yourself for this one, it's going to be a rollercoaster ride!
Fading Secrets is the third installment in Sorensen’s, Detective Caleb Reed series. This book can easily be read as a standalone, just as the previous in the series. However, readers familiar with the series will find the deeper background and contextual understanding an enhancement to their reading experience.
Eric Fletcher hasn't heard from his brother on a regular basis as of late and something seems at odds with him. Determined to talk face to face with him and figure out what is going on, Eric goes to Corey's apartment. Out of character, the door is unlocked so Eric goes in after Corey doesn't answer and to his disbelief, finds a woman dead on Corey's bed and no sign of Corey anywhere.
A frantic 911call from Eric brings in Detectives Reed and Merrick to work the case. As Reed and Merrick dive further into the case it seems as if Corey has fled the scene of the murder and is on the run. With the help of Detectives Adams and Anderson, the four uncover darker secrets than expected.
Will the detectives be able to put all the pieces together in time to find Corey? Will decisions that alter lives have to be made? Who will make it out unscathed?
Sorensen's brilliance shines in her ability to create unforgettable character. Reed's relatable, emotional vulnerabilities contrast with Merrick's humorous attempts to control his feelings – bringing about a solid balance between the two. I will admit, Merrick's dynamic is one that resonates within me. Witnessing their individual journeys of personal growth is compelling and rewarding in its own little twist. As typical with all her characters, Sorensen gives us an intricately developed and well-rounded cast with enough backstory to foster a sense of familiarity.
Fading Secrets is brimming with thrills, intensity and ingenious plot twists. Short chapters with rapid pacing and seamless transitioning that compels you to want “just one more page/chapter.” You will be captivated from the opening lines of the prologue through the final word – prepare to be hooked.
If you are looking for a book with a meticulously structured plot, richly developed characters, and unexpected twists, Fading Secrets is an absolute must-read. Sorensen takes us on a thrilling journey, leaving us craving more of Detective Reed and crew. But oh my lanta, that cliffhanger of an ending!!! Seriously, I might need to seek out some therapy in order to recover from this one – well, at least until the next book is released!

With how Fading Secrets end I need more! I loved it. The characters are fantastic and well developed here. Caleb is such a heart felt guy his kindness just steals you away. I look forward to more of Reed and Merrick, till then I have plenty more to read by this author!

Detectives Caleb Reed and Tyrone Merrick are pulled into a chilling mystery after a frantic 911 call leads them to a dead woman in an apartment, and a missing man named Corey Fletcher. The crime scene looks bad, but nothing about this case is simple. Did Corey kill her, or is he a victim too? As the detectives dig deeper, they find themselves tangled in a maze of secrets, betrayals, and danger. Nothing is black and white here, and the truth may be more terrifying than they imagined.
This one had me hooked from the first sentence. I mean it, no slow build, no easing in, you’re immediately thrown into the action. And it does not let up. The pacing is wild in the best way. I tore through the pages like my life depended on it and finished the whole thing in a day.
The twists keep coming, and every time I thought I had something figured out, the story flipped again. It’s suspenseful and emotional, with characters that feel real and flawed in all the right ways. Caleb and Tyrone are such a solid duo. I’ve read the other books in the series, and while this one can be read on its own, reading in order makes the experience even better. You get more context on their history, and it just adds extra depth to every moment.
What I really appreciated is how layered the side characters are. They aren't just thrown in for plot. They have actual stories and personal stakes. There’s emotion behind everything, which makes the suspense hit harder.
If you love fast-paced, unpredictable crime thrillers with a little heart and a lot of twists, Fading Secrets is definitely worth checking out, and if you haven’t started the Detective Caleb Reed series yet, go ahead and add all three to your list. You're going to want them.

Fading Secrets is everything I want in a crime thriller—sharp writing, gripping suspense, and twists I never saw coming. Caleb and Tyrone make a fantastic detective duo, and the mystery surrounding Corey Fletcher is full of tension and surprises. The deeper they dig, the more chilling it gets. I couldn’t put it down!
