The tides have turned.

Between the cemetery and bayou, two families have lived on the same cul-de-sac for over a century-but it's more than just a fence that divides the wealthy Roux estate from the modest Dubois property.

In the summer of 1988, all is quiet in Slidell, Louisiana. That is, until gallant teen Lance Dubois finds himself caught up with Edward Roux's one and only daughter, Lauren. After a few passionate weeks, their humid nights together fade to a distant memory once Lance leaves town without warning.
