The writing? Poetic and alluring. The world-building and the lush descriptions keep you interested in the plot. There are three POVs from characters who are entangled in betrayal, rebellion, and dealing with political intrigue.
Lydia's path as a Seer is muddled by the lackluster response by people around her, refusing to believe in her visions. Only when she and Crown Prince Ryo cross paths does she find a kindred spirit of sorts. The connection between them grows as they face pressure to find spouses for political advantage amid a rebellion brewing in the background. If connecting with Ryo wasn't enough, Lydia's banter and relationship with Tiernan is also at play.
The plot kept my attention and I liked certain aspects of the characters and their relationships. I felt like the three POVs got to be a bit much at times; maybe keeping it to Lydia and Ryo would have helped with my reading experience. Still a good book!
*Thanks to Deirdre and Pen Pal PR for the early copy!
