As you read through this book, you wonder the same thing. And can the partners dig deep enough to prove the alter-ego is the one that committed the crimes? You just have to read this great book to find out.
Only thing that takes away from the book is the constant mentioning of religion. A few references would have been enough. If you are not religious this may turn you off to the book.
