When Sophie’s secret pen name is exposed by her ex, her entire life is flipped upside down. Teaching is off the table, her reputation is in shambles, and she’s desperate for a reset. Enter Miller Banks, her childhood best friend and a pro football running back who doesn’t hesitate to drop everything for her. He invites her to San Diego to regroup and figure things out, and it’s all strictly platonic... until it's not. A lie to her mom snowballs into an engagement rumor that hits the media, and suddenly, Sophie and Miller are living out a fake relationship in front of the world. But the sparks flying between them feel real. The lines start to blur, and resisting the running back gets harder by the day.

I received a copy of Resisting the Running Back from the author and Valentine's PR. This book was an absolute feel-good win. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and Resisting the Running Back delivered all the things I love about it. Sophie and Miller's connection felt genuine from the start. You could tell they had history, and their transition from best friends to fake fiancés had so many sweet and funny moments.

I loved how Lisa Suzanne brought in characters from the rest of the series. If you've read her previous books, you'll appreciate those little cameos. Sophie and Miller’s pact to marry at 30 if they were still single? Adorable. The way that childhood promise lingered throughout the book was such a charming touch.

Of course, no romance is complete without a little drama, and these two definitely hit some bumps along the way. But that’s part of the fun, right? The back-and-forth, the unresolved tension, and those little moments where you're silently screaming just kiss already made it such an entertaining read.

This was light, charming, and packed with all the things that make you believe in love. I finished it smiling and gave it a solid 5 stars.
