Ink, Blood, and Other Afflictions: Episode One: A Supernatural Dark Romance of Immortal Desire and Deadly Consequences
Do not read this book. Seriously. It’s completely unhinged.

Still here? Well, crap. Fine. Just remember — I warned you.
It’s your classic love story: girl meets boy, they fall for each other (sort of), and live happily ever after (sort of).
She’s your average librarian — bookish, awkwardly cheerful, borderline toxically positive. Except for one tiny problem. After opening the wrong book, she got cursed. Now, every time she ends a life, she experiences the kind of mind-blowing release that could crack the foundations of her apartment. And the bloodier the kill, the better it gets.
He’s your classic grumpy finance wiz — or so everyone thinks. Truth is, his investments just have a lot more time to mature… because he can’t die. At least not permanently. And to top it off, he’s got a masochistic streak a mile wide.
They’re a match made in… well, definitely not Heaven.
A novella.

Just when I think it couldn't grip me tighter, I read episode 4.
Well, the whole thing comes to a nice crescendo but is far from over. The further developments as to Vera's power and what the goddess brings to the table are exactly what we needed from this book but with enough tension and suspense to keep us hanging on every word and screaming knowing we will have to wait to find out more in Season 2.
Oh yes my little monsters, there is so much more to this story than just these 4 episodes but like me you will have to wait for that.
Nikolai is willing to fight tooth and nail and even put his own safety in jeopardy for Vera and the way she loves him back is beyond just physical and the curses combined. They have a need for each other that is pure, brutal and beautiful. They build each other up in the subtlest of ways but they both relish in it. Vera is far to harsh on herself, as we saw in Episode 3 but by the end she is truly starting to see herself the way Nikolai and the Goddess do.
The battle between good and evil and the links to Norse mythology that come through this book are everything we need and more. Kristen really has outdone herself with this series because I will be damned if I don't do a full reread in line with Season 2 being released.
Norse gods and goddesses, werewolves, dragon slayers and more... GO READ THIS SERIES!
