Playground
Three low-income families have been given a handsome retainer to join Geraldine Borden for a day at her cliffside estate. All the parents must do to collect the rest of their money is allow their children to test out the revolutionary playground equipment Geraldine has been working on for decades. But there's a reason the structures in the bowels of her gothic castle have taken so long to develop-they were never meant to see the light of day.
When a band of dysfunctional children is suddenly thrust into a diabolical realm of violence, they must grow up instantly to have a chance at survival. Will they find a way to put their differences aside, or be swallowed up by the insidious architecture all around them?
"With Playground, Aron Beauregard transcends himself, delivering a genuinely chilling, uncomfortable novel that will make even the most jaded horror fan squirm. A harrowing, relentless read that left me breathless."

I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, it’s pure horror at its finest—gruesome, shocking, and unapologetically twisted. Beauregard doesn’t just write horror; he drags you through it by the hair and dares you to look away. “Playground” is everyone’s nightmare—kids, innocence, and violence all thrown together in a way that makes your stomach churn and your eyes stay glued to the page anyway.
That said… it’s definitely not for a weak stomach. The chapter “House of the Blind” caught me completely off guard. I get that Beauregard likes to push limits, but that part? Way over the line for me. Totally unnecessary and disgustingly graphic to the point it broke the tension instead of building it. Miss Borden is clearly disturbed—no further explanation (or detail) was needed.
Apart from that, it’s exactly what horror fans sign up for: disturbing, raw, and unforgettable. If you like your books dark, depraved, and soaked in blood, you’ll love it. Just don’t read it while eating—or sleeping alone. #playground #aronbeauregard #horror
