The Wife Swap

'I was mind blown... I ended up finishing the book at 2:30am on a workday - need I say more?!' Reader review, 5 stars 'Whoa baby, this was a WILD ride! A brilliant page turner' Reader review, 5 stars Some couples would kill for a weekend away... It was supposed to be a fun trip. Three couples, friends since high school, arrive at a remote mountain retreat ready to unwind and catch up. When an innocent remark of swapping partners is made, they laugh it off as a joke. But after a few glasses of wine, it doesn't sound like such a bad idea. With the lights off, it's not really cheating when you don't know who you're with, right? As the lights flicker back on, what started out as a night of fun quickly descends into horror when one of the husbands is discovered dead. Suspicion grows between the friends, but no one is willing to come forward and confess what they know. With no phone service and the car keys missing, they're now stranded on the mountain with no way down. And the killer is just getting started... An absolutely unputdownable and fast-paced crime thriller that will keep you guessing with each new page, never knowing what to expect next. Fans of Clare Mackintosh, Sarah Pearse and Lucy Foley will enjoy this gripping locked-room thriller from Jack Heath set in the Australian bush. *First published as Kill Your Husbands, an Audible Original title* Authors and readers are GRIPPED by The Wife Swap: 'Yes yes yes yes yes-this was everything I needed in a crime/mystery/thriller! ... it was so good I never wanted to put it down. The Wife Swap by Jack Heath was a captivating, mystery thriller that kept me guessing the whole way. This book is about a group of couples who have been friends since high school and decide to have a getaway at a remote, mountain retreat to relax and reconnect. After a few drinks, one of them suggests switching partners for a night, and after some hesitancy, the others finally agree. They lay down some ground rules, including keeping the lights off in hopes of maintaining some anonymity about who they are going to be with and promising to never speak of it again. It’s just some friends swapping couples for the night, and it’s not cheating if they all agree, so what could go wrong? Well, apparently everything…

Things quickly take a turn for the worse when one of the husbands is discovered dead and everyone starts wondering who they can trust. Can they still trust their best friend whom they’ve known for years? What about their spouse? And that is just the beginning of this twisty and wild ride. They soon discover they are all trapped miles away from help with no car keys and no phone service. Who is behind all of this, and what do they want?

This intriguing thriller kept me on the edge of my seat and reading well into the night, needing to know what was going to happen next. Heath did a great job developing his characters and explaining their backstories while keeping the reader engaged by changing perspectives and timeframes throughout. Everyone seems to have a motive in this one, which makes it a very riveting and surprising read. Though the plot may seem a bit outlandish, it was definitely a unique story I didn’t feel like I’ve read before, which I truly appreciated.

If you are looking for a fast-paced thriller with a diverse cast of characters that will keep speculating right up until the very end, then this is the book for you!
