In "Lockdown" by Maria Frankland readers are taken on a gripping journey through the harrowing experience of Melissa, a woman desperate to escape her abüsive marriage. The book skillfully combines the themes of DV and the COVID pandemic, creating a tense and claustrophobic atmosphere that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Melissa's determination to leave her husband, Justin, is palpable from the very beginning. I can not tell you how much I hated Justin throughout this story. Great job to Maria for making me feel such a strong emotion towards a character.
Maria expertly captures the suffocating atmosphere within the house, with Melissa being trapped inside her home with her abûser, making me feel the anxiety and fear that Melissa experiences.
Maria's writing is engaging and evocative, painting a vivid picture of Melissa's struggles. The pacing is excellent, with the tension steadily building throughout the book.
This is absolutely my favorite of Maria's. I highly recommend it, so go out and grab yourself a copy lol.
