I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book and I was so excited to read it because it was a book that was out of my normal reading genre. This book is a more of a fantasy/mystery than a thriller. It takes place in a fictional land called Valueless Land and centers around a man named Randy, who I immediately was drawn to and who became my favorite character. He is a sad and troubled man who has lost his daughter and been abandoned by his wife and I couldn’t help feeling empathy for him and being drawn to him. I was eagerly anticipating a union of Randy and Iria and that kept my anticipation riding high throughout the second half of the book! I also loved the character of Molly although she didn’t appear in the book too much. Both Morgan and Iria were fasciniating characters and I really hope to learn more about them both in Book 2.
The author’s writing style took me a bit to get into because at first as I had no idea what was going on, but once I got a few pages in, I was hooked. The pages flowed smoothly and quickly. The chapters were fairly short and they kept me turning the pages quickly. I found myself continuing to want to know what would happen next and not being able to stop reading!
With the exception of a few editing errors, my only other negative was that there were so many characters to keep track of that it became confusing keeping them straight in my head. The author does list the key characters on pages 6-7 which was helpful, but I didn’t want to keep tabbing back to that page!
All in all I want to thank Jitart Bonney for the opportunity to read this early book release and for my chance to read something a little different than my usual and which I truly enjoyed! 3 ½ stars
