Room for Rent
Nya can't remember the last time she felt safe.
The rundown rental house didn't seem so bad at first. But now, someone is stealing her food. Rattling her bedroom doorknob. Digging through her belongings.
Each night brings more disturbing incidents. And each night, Nya is more convinced that it's not an intruder. She suspects the culprit is hiding in plain sight: her peculiar roommate-of-necessity, Sidney.
Nya can't afford to live anywhere else. The horrible rental is her only option. In a few months, she'll finish her final semester of college-and get the hell out of dodge. But to her horror, the sinister mind games are just the beginning. Before long, she's forced to face the possibility that her physical safety may be at risk. Maybe even her life.
The truth is more terrifying than Nya could have guessed. And as the situation spirals out of control, it's suddenly clear that surviving the night may no longer be an option.
"Gripping and unpredictable, Room for Rent by Noelle Ihli had me peering between my fingers as I read. Anyone who has had a problematic roommate will immediately relate to this darkly disturbing, compulsively readable page-turner. An immersive, spine-tingling, deeply visceral experience, I recommend reading Room for Rent with the lights blazing."
- Heather Gudenkauf, New York Times bestselling author of The Overnight Guest
"What a thrill ride! Room for Rent made me afraid of what could be happening in my own home. It gave me nightmares I still can't shake. Trust me, you'll never look at basements the same way again."
-Steph Nelson, author of The Vein
"This heart-pounding thriller will grip you from the first sentence and won't let go until the last. Settle in and get comfy when you start Room for Rent, because it's the very definition of unputdownable."

Room for Rent – Noelle W. Ihli
What can I even say. I inhaled this book. Chapter one had me by the throat, and after that it was basically a hostage situation between me and my paperback. Closing it felt illegal. I carried it around for hours like a feral little secret, checking in every spare minute, because what if something happened while I wasn’t looking?
Apparently I have a type when it comes to books: damaged trust, messy childhoods, and characters who keep making questionable choices because they’re desperate for something better. That deep, familiar urge to prove yourself. To believe this time will be different. To ignore your gut because hope is louder than common sense. And wow, does this book play that nerve like a sad, screechy violin.
No spoilers—but yes, my inner detective clocked a few things early. And no, that did not save me. Because even when you see something coming, Ihli has a way of making you dread it anyway. There were twists I genuinely didn’t expect. And others I maybe expected but didn’t want to admit were possible… because admitting them meant accepting how dark this could actually go. Cue me side-eyeing my bedroom door like I am not completely safe living with my own family.
This book crawls under your skin. It’s claustrophobic. Uncomfortable. Intimate in the worst way. The kind of story that makes your heart skip—not in a cute romance way, but in a “did I just hear something?” way. The kind that makes you feel watched even when you’re perfectly safe.
Five deeply unsettling, room-sharing, trust-issues-on-steroids stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Because when a book sticks this close, messes with your head, and makes your pulse spike for all the wrong reasons—it’s earned every single one.
So if your mind is craving something dark, twisty, and uncomfortably close to a psychological hostage situation… congratulations. This needs to be on your TBR.

Room for Rent – Noelle W. Ihli

Nya is living in a rundown rental house. At first, it wasn't too bad; sure, her roommate is gross and messy, and the place has a strange, funky smell. But now, she can't remember the last time she felt safe.
Someone is stealing her food, rattling her bedroom doorknob as she sleeps, and stealing items from her room. At first, she wonders in her sleepless state if she's imagining things. Could it really be an intruder?
She starts to suspect a culprit close to home: her roommate of necessity, Sidney. As each night brings more disturbing incidents, she feels trapped.
She can't afford to live anywhere else. She's only got a few months left at college; surely, she can stick it out. Things spiral and she's forced to face an unimaginable situation as the truth is even worse than she'd feared.
I thoroughly enjoyed this intense and unpredictable novel. Grab your copy now!
