I jumped into Protecting the Texas Witness without having read the first two books in the Lone Star Defenders series, and honestly, it didn’t slow me down at all. The story stands strong on its own, pulling me right into this mix of second chance romance and suspense.
Watching a mother and daughter on the run kept the tension steady, and Drake’s arrival added that extra spark both emotionally and in the action. The balance between danger and connecting pasts made it easy to stay invested, and I found myself rooting for them pretty quickly.
Overall, this was a really engaging read that kept me turning pages, and now I’m definitely curious to go back and read the rest of the series. If you like a blend of romance and suspense with a protective hero vibe, this one’s worth picking up.
