⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 Star Review

This one had such a strong premise—an FBI agent forced to confront the very kind of evil that shattered her own life. Right away, the emotional weight behind Darcy Hunt’s character pulled me in. Her past wasn’t just backstory—it was the driving force behind everything she did, and that made the stakes feel personal and intense.

The small-town setting worked well, creating that familiar “everyone knows something but no one is talking” atmosphere. There was a steady sense of unease throughout, and the idea that someone was always one step ahead kept the tension simmering.

That said, the pacing felt uneven at times. Some moments dragged longer than necessary, while others that should have hit harder emotionally or revealed major twists felt rushed. I wanted a bit more depth in certain reveals, especially considering how intricate the overall mystery was meant to be. The concept was solid, but the execution didn’t always deliver the full punch it promised.

Overall, this was an engaging thriller with a compelling lead and a dark, haunting premise. It kept me interested, but I was left wishing for a bit more intensity and sharper payoff. Still worth the read if you enjoy FBI-driven investigations, buried secrets, and psychological tension.
