Almost a Love Song

Beloved author Jackson Pearce brings her trademark humor and emotion to a compelling and hopelessly romantic story about how impossible fame and love can be on their own, much less together.

Maybe everything they say about Vivi Swan is true.

Maybe America's Sweetheart is all fluff and no substance.

And maybe every guy she dates is fodder for her next breakup song.

But session drummer Remy Young doesn't care. Touring with Vivi Swan means more money than he and his brother could ever earn on their own. And he's smart enough to keep himself away from drama.

Then a bus mix-up forces Remy and Vivi to spend hours together, and he's surprised to discover that she's nothing like the rumors said. When she asks for his help writing her next song, he's immediately on board--for professional reasons, of course.

Soon, it's clear that every variation of their song is just a different way to write a love letter, even as Remy wonders if he's setting himself up to be the next guy on her list of exes. And when Vivi's private life and public facade finally clash, a celebrity gossip blog threatens everything they've created together...

Read Letter D.

What a fun read! Sometimes musician romances are a tough sell for me, but this one caught my eye. I liked that the focus was not so much on the glory of fame (rather the opposite, the fame was the problem) It was also interesting to have a romance solely from the male leads pov. I didn't expect it to work as well as it did, but I didn't' feel like anything was missing. Seeing Vivi only through Remy's eyes was interesting, because again, he wasn't really into the fame.

I also loved that it truly was a slow burn,sweet/closed door romance. I dont mind spice, but I hate when a book conflates story with spice. There's plenty of butterfly inducing moments in here and the sweetness is easy to fall in love with.

I also loved Val and his backstory with Remy about escaping their super-religious family and making it on their own. That brought another layer to the story that was really nice, rounding out the characters to more than their place in the romance.

My only wish was that there was perhaps a little more to the HEA, in a stand alone book I want to see a little more of that hard-won happiness.

Its worth mentioning that Vivi is a (barely) veiled Taylor Swift, which—is fine (I love TS) but if you have a problem with that/her this isn't the book for you.
