This book had its ups and downs but overall it was enjoyable. Claire is a resilient single mom dealing with working and taking care of her daughter while her ex-husband is inconsistent. I loved how feisty she was at the beginning and held her own during banter with Jake.

Jake had his good qualities but I was turned off by how he basically injected himself in Claire's life and acted like he had to be around her everyday. I appreciated how he was open to dating a single mom, something rarely seen in real life.

Most of these in the series can be read as a standalone, with tie ins with characters from other books, but not critical. This was a steamy, full of banter, perfect for a summer read, quick read at that!
