A Taste For Lies The Apex Kingdom Book 1

Beauty and the Beast meets Netflix's Bridgerton in this seductive fantasy romance!

The best lies are mostly true.

Alora knows the Guild's Ten Rules of Spy Craft and Thieving better than anyone. But none of them prepare her for being caught by the terrifying, yet undeniably alluring, beast prince.

She can't believe it when instead of devouring her whole, he recruits her for an impossible heist.

The mark? His father, the king.

What starts as a deadly mission soon sparks a forbidden attraction. As Alora gets to know the true male behind the dangerous beast, the lines between the reluctant allies blur. With each illicit touch, their chemistry ignites, and Alora's resolve begins to falter.

To survive the heist, Alora will risk everything: her freedom, her reputation-maybe even her life. Can she trust the beast prince, or are his promises just pretty lies flavored with the truth?

Dive into a world of adventure, passion, and betrayal with A Taste for Lies, the first in the captivating Apex Kingdom Series.

I have no choice but to squeal about a retelling and LC Whitehouse's Beauty and the Beast retelling has everything; action, romance, a little suspense. A romantasy that needs to be added to everyone's TBR.

The story follows Alora, a thief who plans to do a final "job" and finds herself being recruited to participate in a heist. The issue? Her mark is the King. Cue the feisty and snarky FMC making her way to do the job and finessing the Beast into participating, especially after he hired her for the job. I loved how Alora was written; she's an intelligent, goal-oriented character with a whole lot of sass.

The "Beast" Taran brings his trademark broodiness into the plot and the tension between him and Alora is tantalizing. The slow burn was worth suffering through because we hit all the tropes (he falls first, touch her and die, etc).

The political aspect and worldbuilding is excellent with a diverse set of characters. The magic system is unique. Just a fantastic read and debut. I'm excited for book 2.
