Having a villainous FMC made this book everything and more. With her being the morally grey one and the MMC being the protagonist who could ruin it all, this was just perfection for me.
Eveline is based on the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz and has perfected the most addictive strain of Opium Poppy to keep her father’s empire on top. Her father abuses his power and her love for him creating tension and questions of trust throughout. The trust issues do not stop with her family and when she meets Nick, this all becomes more apparent.
Nick is a DEA agent trying to take down her father. He’s undercover within the business and Eveline could ruin everything after their one night of passion before his op. He is supposed to be the good guy, but he is definitely more morally grey than he wants to admit.
Their relationship is one of fire, tension and passion and this gives the book a more gripping atmosphere when it comes to their on-page spice. The spice is phenomenal, and the gun scene was just hot AF.
