Killer Secret

~Elisa D. Daniels

“Hey there, listeners. You’re tuned into Minds of a Serial Killer. I’m your host, Bree Turner. Tonight’s episode is not for the faint of heart.” ~Bree Turner

Our favorite podcast host, Bree Turner, is back to wrap up the Killer trilogy with a well-deserved mic drop. Killer Secret by Elisa D. Daniels is the closing broadcast in this series you can't pause, it will echo long past the ending credits. We aren't just experiencing true-crime fiction during her podcasts. It's like being live in the podcast room with Bree, sipping coffee one moment and choking the next when the twist hits.

Bree Turner is back, and as you come to expect, deep in the middle of another killer set of conflicts.

William Cotton, The Duct Tape Killer, former renown attorney, and current resident at Darkwood Correctional Facility. Cotton has been accused, and convicted, of murdering twenty-three women. His niece, Patricia, along with himself, maintain claims of innocence. Patricia has reached out to Bree for help – she wants Bree to investigate and prove his innocence.

At the same time. Bree is living her own horror story. She's dealing with stalking, obsession, threats, and secrets that she prefers stay buried. Packages show up with tapes leaving vague clues as to who could possibly be behind them.

It's up to Bree to uncover the truth behind William Cotton's case, and the person attempting to disrupt her life. The question is, will this be her FINAL podcast?

Daniels continues to showcase her skill with character craftsmanship in Killer Secret. Bree's toughness and vulnerability land perfectly. Killer Secret finally gives readers the resolution we've wanted – the full backstory of why she left California, and how deep her scars truly run. Supporting cast add layers of texture and tension, each bringing a sharp and unpredictable side to the story. With Daniels, we don't get background characters. She builds full-blooded people who breathe, fight, and haunt you long after you finish reading. Bree might be the voice behind the podcast, but everyone in the story demands to be heard.

The pacing is steady and suspense building that leaves you waiting for the next shoe to drop – and it does drop, several times. Every transition feels smooth, yet loaded with tension. The atmosphere crackles. You can “hear" the static of Bree's mic. Feel the paranoia drip through conversations. Sense the weight of secrets pressing against fragile truths. And then when the twists hit, they are clean and unforgiving. Every reveal lands with intent. By the end, you are left with that eerie silence only a good finale can leave behind.

Killer Secret is the mic drop Bree Turner, and readers, deserve. It isn't a door-busting, bomb-dropping chaotic mess. It closes softly, firmly, leaving you satisfied.

I would like to thank Elisa D. Daniels for allowing me to Alpha/Beta/ARC for Killer Secret. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation, current or future, by the author or publisher for a fair and honest review.
