Fallon meets Ben the day before she’s set to move across the country. Their chemistry is instant and intense. With dreams to chase and lives to live, they decide to meet on the same date every year, November 9, with no contact in between. As the years go by and their connection deepens, so do the secrets, truths, and emotions they’ve been holding back.
"November 9" is a novel about timing, fate, and how love evolves when it’s given room to grow. Colleen Hoover takes readers on a journey through five years of one unforgettable day that just might change everything.
I’ve read a lot of Colleen Hoover’s books, but November 9 really hit me in the feels. It’s hands down my favorite of hers. The setup is unique and it grabbed me from the very first chapter. I couldn’t stop turning pages.
Fallon and Ben have this magnetic pull. Watching their relationship develop over the course of five years felt so fresh and different. I mean one day a year? That concept could’ve felt gimmicky but it didn’t. It felt raw, emotional, and so real.
What really got me was the emotional depth. There’s a balance of heartache and healing, and the tension keeps building in the best possible way. I love how Hoover doesn’t shy away from complicated characters. Both Fallon and Ben are flawed but that’s what makes their journey so compelling. You root for them. You get frustrated with them. And you definitely feel every high and low.
Also, the plot twist? It absolutely wrecked me. But in that good bookish way where you just sit in silence for a minute after you finish and try to process what you just experienced. Hoover’s writing here is thoughtful, layered, and so full of heart.
If you’re into stories about second chances, self-discovery, and love that’s a little messy but all-consuming, this book delivers.
I gave it 5 stars without hesitation. It’s the kind of story that lingers long after the last page.
