A Kingdom of Curses: The Emergence is the first in a planned series and I am so glad that it is because this book was a welcome addition to the fantasy genre.
Paege is a book girlie with a flair for getting into tough situations. I loved her empathetic nature but she had to develop a backbone after letting people treat her like crap. The male characters, Guy and Quentin, were opposites but made perfect sense as her friends and companions.
The romance is minimum and the spice was low in favor of the plot aland I enjoyed that. The love triangle sort of irritated me. I loved Guy and was rooting for him lol. I love that the bit of spice occurs naturally and without being shoved into the story for the sake of claiming to be spicy.
The world building is fantastic and the plot is intricate and captivating. The character development and the emotional aspect of the story was good. I can't wait to see what the next book brings.
