The new gripping page-turning thriller for fans of BLACK MIRROR from the bestselling author of HER LAST MOVE and THE ONE - soon to be a major Netflix series.
When someone hacks into the systems of eight self-drive cars, their passengers are set on a fatal collision course.
The passengers are: a TV star, a pregnant young woman, a disabled war hero, an abused wife fleeing her husband, an illegal immigrant, a husband and wife - and parents of two - who are travelling in separate vehicles and a suicidal man. Now the public have to judge who should survive but are the passengers all that they first seem?
'a 1970s disaster movie by way of Black Mirror, with a dash of...Michael Crichton...a sleek, exhilerating ride' Financial Times

I don’t even have enough words to describe how brilliantly written this book was. The Passengers completely took over my brain — one of those rare reads that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the very last page. It’s fast-paced, clever, emotional, and terrifyingly believable all at once.
The story dives into a world where technology and morality collide — where the power over life and death can rest in the hands of a stranger. Marrs takes that idea and twists it into something so real it makes you uncomfortable. You feel every moment: the fear, the helplessness, the heartbreak of watching lives play out in front of an audience that thinks they have the right to judge.
This book made me fall completely in love with John Marrs’s writing. It’s sharp, daring, and full of heart beneath all the chaos. The plot twists hit hard — not just shocking for the sake of it, but meaningful. Every reveal makes you question what you’d do if you had that same unwanted power over someone else’s life.
It’s original, thought-provoking, and utterly addictive. I could not put it down. The pacing, the concept, the emotion — it all just works. If this is your first John Marrs read, buckle up, because it’s 1000% worth it. The kind of story that lingers long after you’ve turned the last page — and makes you rethink the world we live in.
