An amazing read that I finished in one day! The writing was fast paced and drew me in immediately. The plot was great and the characters were developed really well. I enjoyed how the main characters evolved throughout the book. The book is written from different points of view and switches by chapter which gives the reader a chance to see inside different characters’ minds which I really enjoy. I thought I knew where the plot was going, but I was not even close! This was a fantastic read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Whispering Rain
-Jessica Lynn Sorensen
Whispering Rain is the second installment in Sorensen’s Detective Caleb Reed series. While it can easily be read as a standalone, having read A Stranger Within, the first book, will only enhance the experience by providing deeper background and context for some references made in Whispering Rain.
In this gripping story, Detective Caleb Reed is back and tasked with finding a missing 4-year-old girl, Bailey Moore. What seems like a simple case quickly unravels when the parents’ stories clash with one another. While the mother claims Bailey vanished from her bed overnight, the father insists she died in a tragic car accident months ago. It’s up to Caleb to uncover the truth and understand why their accounts differ so drastically. What really happened to little Bailey?
As Reed navigates a maze of secrets, he is joined by a cast of complex yet well-rounded supporting characters. Sorensen excels at creating unique personalities that add emotional depth, allowing readers to connect with them on a profound level. The exploration of past traumas and hidden secrets adds a psychological layer, making for a captivating read.
The narrative promises a thrilling psychological ride, keeping readers guessing until the very last page. The surprising twists genuinely caught me off guard several times - just when I thought I had figured out the plot, Sorensen threw in unexpected revelations that left me stunned. The fast pacing and smooth transitions maintain suspense while skillfully weaving in plot twists keep readers on the edge of their seats.
For fans of well-structured plots, richly developed characters, and unexpected twists, Whispering Rain is must-read. The book not only provides a thrilling journey but also concludes with satisfying endings. While Sorensen is a new author on my radar, her ability to craft such an engaging psychological thriller has left me eager to explore her other books.
As someone who had the privilege of reading an advance copy as part of the Alpha/Beta/ARC readers, I can confidently say that Whispering Rain is a testament to Sorensen's talent as a storyteller. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation by the author, present or future, for my review.

Amazing book with twists and turns and I enjoyed the humor of Adams.
Jessica did a fantastic job with making you FEEL what her characters felt in this story!
That’s one thing I search for in a book, I want to feel like I’m part of the story.

More action
I jumped right into Detective Caleb Reed series book 2, after reading book one and so glad I did. I enjoyed it so much more. Very interesting story, good twist, and that ending...I can't wait to see what's in store for the next continuation.

This was my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it immensely. When you have an immediate connection with a book's writing style within the first few pages, it's a fantastic feeling. Jessica Lynn Sorensen is an absolute master at the descriptive story she unravels. I felt like I was there, immersed deeply in the events, and was surprised by the twists and turns. She will be a new favourite of mine!

'Whispering Rain' is the second book in Jessica's Detective Caleb Reed series, but it can be read as a standalone.
What at first seems like a straightforward kidnapping in the case of the missing four-year-old Bailey Moore is anything but, as her parents provide completely conflicting stories. Her mother insists she's disappeared or been taken from her bedroom window on a wet and stormy night, while her father maintains she died in a tragic accident eleven months ago.
As Caleb digs deeper into the case, more bizarre revelations emerge. Who is lying, and how far will they go to protect the truth?
I really enjoyed the first-person POV, multi-perspective, short chapters. This is a quick and enjoyable read with well-developed characters.
