I think writing this book was a mistake. I’m sure she meant it to be all “empowering” and whatever but ew. No. This book just made her look, and I’m really not trying to be mean, but…pathetic.

I love Selling Sunset, it’s my favorite drama tv show, and Mary always came across as the one who always had her stuff together. Unfortunately this book just portrayed her as a constant victim of her own selfishness, naïveté, and horrible choices. And frankly I lost all respect for her.

You can only move in with so many men after barely meeting them and then wonder why you’re so shocked by their behavior 6 months later. You didn’t take any time to get to know them! She made her poor son move probably 15 times during his childhood bc she kept uprooting their lives to go shack up with different guys. It’s one thing to implode your own life on a whim, but as a parent, that’s just disgusting. And selfish.

And tbh anyone who writes “I have to ask my therapist if I can be friends with X person” has no business calling themselves an adult.

Then the filming. She constantly writes about how invasive it is, but in the next breath admits she won’t say no or draw boundaries. To allow a film crew in your home while you announce your miscarriage while in the next breath bemoaning the fact that she wanted to grieve privately… girl. Put. Your. Foot. Down. You can say no. But again, see my prior paragraph. Adulting. Figure it out.

And Jason. Ick. I knew he was a womanizer but he’s just gross.

And then… just when it couldn’t get sadder, the whole thing turned into a giant ad for her numerous brand partnerships.
