This was my first time reading Jules Starbrook, and I genuinely enjoyed this short story. It’s tender, empowering, and beautifully written—one of those quiet emotional punches that sneaks up on you. Lily-Anne’s journey of walking away from the wrong person and slowly finding her way back to herself felt so real and heartfelt. The family moments are warm, the grief is handled with care, and the spark of new hope is just perfect. A wonderful introduction to Jules’ writing, and I plan on reading the next one!
