Wow! What a phenomenal book! I don't have many "favorite books" but this one has been added to my very short list! I had such a hard time putting it down, but I did have to sleep and interact with my family, lol.

The story itself was incredible. The early beginning was a bit rough to get through as it is sensitive material but once you do it opens up to an extraordinary story.
The strength Phoenix had after learning about her early childhood was remarkable. There was some funny moments in this book, like the dog's name, which I won't say, don't want to give it away. The music playlists were perfect for the road trip.
Curt was a favorite character in this story. I absolutely loved how he treated Phoenix. His compassion, kindness, and loving actions throughout made it easy to like him.

I did not want this book to end but felt content with how Jafe ended the story.

I can not wait for his next book!
I actually think this should be made into a movie.

Make sure you grab a copy of this book!

I absolutely love Leaving Phoenix! The characters are all loveable, except the Snake Pirate. He's a known bad guy from the beginning, so no spoiler there. Phoenix gets a letter from a man claiming to be related to her and goes on a journey to meet him. She needs answers about her past, but what she eventually remembers ignites a fire to exact justice against a very bad man. This is my first book by Jafe Danbury and I am hooked, I have to read them all!

Incredible! Jafe's writing immediately drew me in, and the skillfully crafted story led me through an enthralling journey filled with unexpected twists and turns. The characters are masterfully developed, and the plot is genuinely remarkable. The witty humor woven throughout the book added to its enjoyment. I wholeheartedly suggest reading this outstanding book!

The characters in this book were standout, especially Phoebe, but I pretty much loved them all. The animals were a fun addition, and the tension built throughout, leading to a very satisfying conclusion. I thought the road trip was a little long, and I skimmed through the song lyrics, but that is just personal taste. All in all, it was a very enjoyable read and I will be checking out the author's other books because I'd love to see what happens with these characters in the rest of the series.

This was such an engaging and enjoyable read. The humor is perfectly placed, breaking up the heavier moments and genuinely had me chuckling along the way without ever taking away from the emotional weight of the story.

The characters are easy to love, the kind you connect with quickly, and the book is packed with references to music, TV, and cultural moments spanning from the 1970s through the early 2000s, which adds a great sense of nostalgia and atmosphere. It also literally comes with its own soundtrack, thoughtfully provided by the author at the end of the book, making the reading experience even more immersive. By the time the action ramps up toward the end, I was fully invested and flying through the final pages. A really neat story that balances heart, humor, and momentum beautifully.

About the Author

Jafe Danbury
Jafe Danbury hails from the trenches of the Hollywood production scene, where he spent decades as a camera operator, director of photography, and director. He has also worked as a teacher and is a U.S. Navy veteran.

He enjoys noodling on the guitar, long road trips, likes his bacon crispy, and loves a good dive bar––especially if it happens to have a twenty-two-foot shuffleboard table. He prefers a leisurely walk to running, unless being chased by a clown with a chainsaw.

Jafe and his lovely bride currently reside in central California and are quite active in animal rescue efforts.
