Inspector Ingrid Larsen is a single mother, struggling with balancing home life with her successful career in the Norwegian police force. One day, a body is found at a local harbor, and it will trigger a landslide of secrets to spill in the small town. After the police identify the body, Ingrid begins the work of unpicking the twisted web of mystery surrounding the man’s death. Why was he killed? Who killed him? Each step of the investigation threatens to upend the quiet town. Will Ingrid be able to solve the case before more of the snow is covered in blood?
This is yet another amazing entry from a very talented author. Somehow she makes you feel like you are right in the middle of a frozen Norwegian landscape and hot on the trail of a killer. The characters jump off the page and live with you long after you put the book down. The book starts off relentless action and then dives head first into a very twisted and dark Scandinavian-style mystery. This is definitely not just your standard fjords and snow. The whole town feels isolated by the elements, and I felt a growing sense of dread from the first page the never let up even after finishing the last sentence.
I also enjoyed how we got to learn some essential Norwegian along the way. I felt so cultured by the end.
Takk, Welz!

So, so good! As a single working mama I related to Ingrid on such a personal level. Always finding sitters, shuffling between this person and the next, having a child grow up trusting everyone because that is what they learn when you need all hands on deck to help.
I love this one. All of Welz Bailey's novels are fantastic. Characters are well developed and have deep emotional touches to them.
Quick Read to grab up for December and get your reading goals in.

A Norwegian single mum and police inspector, Ingrid Larson, has her hands full in this action-packed novella. Welz pulls at your heartstrings as her main character juggles childcare, a demanding job, and parental guilt.
What I love about any Welz Bailey story is that she puts you right there, in not only the heart-pounding action and intrigue that her stories provide but also the feel of the country and its atmosphere! She obviously puts in a lot of research, as I certainly felt the cold chill of the icy breeze and the choppy waters.
This short tale certainly packs a punch as Ingrid and her team try to solve a complex case and track a killer before they strike again. She brings you characters that you'll fall in love with and one or two you definitely won't! I flew through these pages and didn't want it to end! If you're looking for a fabulous, fast-paced five-star read, then look no further.

“The Soul Cries of Florväg Seas” by Welz Bailey is a quick winter read packed with suspense. The atmospheric setting and unfolding mystery kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Bailey delivers tension, intrigue, and a gripping sense of danger in a tight, compelling story. A great pick for when you want a fast, chilling read.
