The Housemaid
Every day I clean the Winchesters' beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew's handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it's hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina's life. I only try on one of Nina's pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it's like. But soon she finds out - and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it's far too late. But I reassure myself that the Winchesters don't know who I really am. And they don't know what I'm capable of.

I know I'm super late to the party on this one!
Nina Winchester is looking for a housemaid; she's elegant, seems like a nice employer, and she dresses pristinely. Her beautiful home seems like a fantastic place to work.
Every day, her newly appointed housemaid cleans Nina's home from top to bottom, collects her daughter from school when asked, and prepares delicious meals.
It's all going great until it isn't! Nina is unpredictable, and she makes an extra mess just to watch the housemaid clean it up. She tells lies that leave the housemaid questioning whether she misheard the instructions, and she can't help but feel jealous as she retreats to her lonely attic room to eat her meals alone.
The housemaid feels sorry for Nina's husband, Andrew, whose handsome brown eyes look sad and full of pain. Why is Nina so difficult when she appears to have it all?
The housemaid has secrets and the Winchester's don't know what she's truly capable of, but the Winchester's have secrets of their own, perhaps worse ones.
I really enjoyed this twisty and clever psychological thriller. Freida's writing style is easy and flows beautifully, leaving you flying through the pages. I thoroughly recommend this book.

Why did it take me so long to read this book! Brilliant from the very first page to the last. Kept me gripped and kept me guessing. I'm about to start on book 2 straight away. Highly recommend. A solid 5 stars.
