This book will give you all the creepy chills. KU offers audible with this book and I gotta say the reader made it come to life with his voice and personality changes. Matt is just down right creepy and his character makes you want to look over your shoulder more often than not. I am beyond excited to jump into Disciple. The ending of The Little Woods 100% leaves you wanting more.

As a Gen X’er, I expected a story about kids running wild, getting into all sorts of mischief like we used to disappearing into the woods, making blood pacts, maybe dabbling in a seance or two. That’s just how it was back then. But this author takes things to an entirely different level. The dark and unsettling story that unfolds is truly mind-bending and keeps you turning the pages. This is just the first book in a trilogy, and I’m definitely curious to see where it all goes from here.

Supernatural chills!

The book grabbed my attention right away with quite an intense scene. Mock can depict frightening situations well. My intrigue peaked, and I was keen to see where the story would go. The chapters flit between 1977 and 1995. Covering the main character, Ian’s childhood, his close relationship with his brother, Bryan, several tragedies that affect them, and how they seem to be haunted by a darkness that originated within their childhood playground, Little Woods.

While I enjoyed the darkness, the first half of the book felt unnecessarily wordy, making my progress slow. The pace is much faster from the halfway point. Mock drags you into those little woods as supernatural evil chills you. The ending is absolutely superb and I’m looking forward to reading more of his work.
