I really wanted to connect with this story, but unfortunately, it was a bit of a struggle for me. The beginning felt quite slow, and I found myself having a hard time staying engaged. I actually had to put the book aside for a while before coming back to it.

Things did pick up around the halfway point, and I found the second half much easier to get through. There were definitely some intriguing pieces to the mystery, especially the family secrets, the hidden journal, and Cassie's determination to uncover what had been kept hidden for so many years.

I also have to commend Luna May for the amount of work and detail that went into the story. There is a lot happening beneath the surface, and I could appreciate the thought that went into developing the family history and multiple perspectives.

Unfortunately, some of the repetition throughout the book made the pacing feel slower for me than I would have liked, and I ultimately found it difficult to fully connect with the story.

That said, I think readers who enjoy slow-burn mysteries, family secrets, and stories that gradually unravel the past may find more to enjoy here. It just wasn't quite the book for me.

I received this book as an ARC and HOLY SMOKES! I don’t typically read blurbs or anything that will tell me about the book. I like going in blind. And I had no idea that this book would go this way! Poor Cassie having to make the decisions she did about grandpa Earl! This book was suspenseful, twisted and just wow. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend!

I don’t know what I was expecting out of this book, but it definitely blew my mind. 🤯 It kept me on my toes. A nosey granddaughter, a grandmother that was as quiet as a mouse who looked the other way and a grandfather with secrets buried. I really enjoyed this psychological thriller/drama. The multi POV was interesting as you got many sides of the story.

I did it because I could and wanted to....plain and simple. Omg!!! This was crazy! Watching Cassie uncover a secret held for 40yrs was intense! And watching Earl watch her uncover it slowly was even more intense! And the end.....wow. absolutely a great read!!

As you read the first 25% of this book you are introduced to 4 characters. With each character you discover more of what is hidden. The build up to the main plot is a little slow for my liking but I am still intrigued to see where the book is going. It feels more like a diary of each character than a novel.

The more you read into the book the more repetitive you find each entry from the different characters. The chapters are quite long but if things weren't repeated the chapters could have been made shorter. Every time you read Earls chapters you feel on edge like you know something bad is going to happen.

The pacing has picked up a little but nothing that makes you not want to put it down. It is still so repetitive that you are feeling like you are rereading what you have read.

The ending of the book was quite predictable. You saw it coming. The suspence of the book is definitely there and the style of writing for this was great. However, it didn't quite reach the mark for me. I didn't feel like there were any twists within the book.

Author, Luna May, creates a story full of suspense and secrets. We follow Cassie who has returned to her family farm and begins to uncover things the land and to the family have kept hush-hush.

I truly enjoyed the story! I wanted to know all the details and uncover all the truths that Cassie was after when she found the journal. I felt immersed as I read the story and wanted to jump in right alongside her. Secrets don’t stay hidden forever! 🤫🤐

Luna May does it again with The Farmers Secret. The Farmers Secret is small town USA at its darkest and finest and I’m here for it. When a town has a mystery that turns out to be a family secret makes the reader say I don’t see that coming. And the twist and turns of the uncovering of these secrets makes you start to think what my neighbors may have buried or what secrets are they keeping. The way this book is written in the charter point of views takes the reader on a ride of internal conflict and questioning the mortality of the reader and the characters. If you love the small town life and reading about what’s hidden in some small towns across America I highly recommend The Farmers Secret. This book will leave you wondering and guessing what the neighbor next door or the person sitting next to me at church has hidden they wouldn’t want anyone to know. Who knows are you Earl with a secret or Cassie trying to uncover a secret.

I liked this book, but the change from first person in some chapters, and 3rd person in the others really through me off.

This was such an intense and thrilling read. Right from the beginning I was pulled in and didn’t want to put this down. Cassie is the kind of woman that has a nose for things. And when she finds a bracelet in the field, she starts getting curious. Especially when she finds her grandmothers journal that was hidden away for only Cassie to find. This had me obsessed. It was mysterious and suspenseful. I was on the edge of my seat with the twists and turns. This was a seriously awesome story.
