So, first off, this sort of genre isn't exactly one that I tend to read, but the blurb seemed good for some creepy Halloween read and I like to support smaller scale authors (especially being one myself!).
However, I can't really give this one more than 3 stars.
The good: the dream sequences are amazing. I wish there had been a few more. I also liked the main character, Glenys, and Alfie.
The problematic: pacing. Serious pacing issues. The first two thirds of the book really meandered and did nothing and it doesn't pick up really until the last 15% of it.
There were threads that went nowhere. It seemed like this should have been more of a ghost story, but that wasn't explored. The killers identity frankly made no sense to be honest (how does the killer have the time? The timelines seem a little tangled and wrecked too-case in point: how did the killer sneak in to turn on her radio and unplug it again, and read for a couple of hours and check in on Glenys at the same night? And was with that fear the killer had? Totally unnecessary). And how the ex went out was completely unsatisfying.
There was also just some editing misses like tense confusion, but that wasn't prevalent.
I think that this was a missed opportunity because the writer couldnt quite decide if this was a ghost story or a murder mystery and both ended up falling flat.
But I'm still glad I read it and could support a fellow author
