The Girl on the Train is one of those psychological thrillers that leans hard into atmosphere and character rather than nonstop action, and that worked for me more often than not. The slow, voyeuristic buildup creates a constant sense of unease, and the unreliable perspective keeps you questioning what’s real and what’s being filtered through damage, grief, and obsession.
While parts of the story dragged just enough to keep it from a 5-star rating, the tension and payoff made sticking with it worthwhile.
This is a solid 4⭐ read if you enjoy character-driven thrillers that simmer instead of sprint—and leave you unsettled long after you close the book.
