Wow! What a rollercoaster of a read!
Vicki separated from her husband, Lee and has stopped him from seeing the children because she fears he is in a dark place with his habit, which led him to be fired from work.
She is in a relationship with her boss, Marc. Lee doesn’t like him but won’t tell Vicki why.
Vicki and Marc go out for the evening, leaving teenage neighbour Jess in charge. They come home to chaos. Lee has “stolen” the children.
Now that is only part of what happens in this book, and I am not revealing anymore, but it has more twists than a helter-skelter.
The book is told in multiple points of view and we get an incite into what everyone is feeling and thinking at that point in time, which I like as I feel I get a wider picture in my head.
As the story progressed, it got chilling, and I would say if anyone has any triggers, please check if this is for you before reading it. As it was tough going in places.
Overall, I thought it was a great read and kept me glued to it. I have read a few of Ruby Speechley’s books and loved them all, and this one was no exception; it was fantastic.
