I was floored by the story of Eleanor and Elias. The friends to lovers and brother's best friend tropes were well written and I couldn't put my Kindle down.
Eleanor Stanton immersed herself in the shadows after a fateful night in a London valley left her mentally and physically scarred and caused the loss of her beloved brother. She endured ridicule from her sisters and refused to join society or the search for a marriage. Fate swooped in with an invitation to a party and Eleanor found herself entwined with her brother's best friend, the Duke of Gainsbury Elias Yates.
Elias was reeling from his engagement woes of the previous book (Romancing Lady Rose) but when he encounters Eleanor at the party, sparks fly and he finds himself sticking up for her and attempting to save the Stanton's from further gossip and ruination.
I could not get enough of how Elias was so thoughtful and protective of Eleanor; the scene at the modiste made me gasp and swoon over Elias! Such a good book and I definitely recommend it for the girlies who love Bridgerton or the Regency era in general.
