He Falls First was such a heartfelt, beautifully written story about love, loss, and healing. Penny was an incredibly relatable main character — the kind of woman who takes care of everyone else while quietly putting herself last. I instantly connected with her and felt every bit of her struggle and growth. Ryder, on the other hand, was the perfect balance — strong, loyal, and deeply family-oriented, even while carrying the weight of his own past.

Jill Shalvis did a wonderful job blending humor, heart, and emotion into a story that felt so real and human. You can feel the love and care she poured into every page. It’s one of those reads that reminds you that sometimes, the best kind of love stories are about finding peace within yourself — and then finding someone who sees you for who you are.
