A good book overall but I got whiplash during the final parts of the book. The FMC Ekaterina tries to move past the tragic accident that occurred when she was a teenager. That changes when she encounters the elder Brannington brother who strikes an arranged marriage with her.
Kingston is in line to run his family's empire but reluctant to marry or have kids but his arranged marriage to the woman he loathes comes in handy. The two bicker but eventually fall for each other while navigating the danger of Kat's devious father.
The third act felt abrupt and I felt disappointed at the ending and the lack of a buildup. I did enjoy the banter between the characters, especially when Ekaterina would sass Kingston. The true antagonist of the story was like a pesky gnat instead of the big bad wolf to me. A good story but could have used more buildup and a little less spice.
