Read Letter D.

Feb 8, 2026
As with all the characters in this series, I like Mitch, so even though book 2 wasn't for me, I was excited to revisit April and Mitch.

In this one I really felt a loss of not having his POV though. April was not terribly likable, for a woman her age she jumped to tons of conclusions and saw no reason to talk out issues. Fine if she was 24, not fine at 40. She is a great mom, but really blamed a lot on having to be one, which at times felt weird.

Everything with Mitch I enjoyed, but some of Aprils second guessing/wallowing got old and I wished for Mitch chapters instead. They were sweet together, and funny too.

I enjoyed seeing bits of Emily and Simon again, though was glad not to see too much Stacey and her guy. It was also nice to spend more time at the Ren Fair and to get to see it fresh through April's eyes.

If you like a guy going above and beyond to prove himself to a (willfully?) unseeing lady, this will work for you. Mitch is that guy and I just wish April could have met him in the middle a little more.

Her misunderstanding of the women's names in his phone was beyond dumb for me. 1% brain activity or one question could had resolved it on page 40, instead of letting it linger until the last 40 pages. Again, if she was young and dumb I'd let it go, but she's not (supposed to be).

Anyway. Will I read book 4? It's about Dex. We'll see, since it's already on my shelf, but I'm not sure I care enough about him to bother.

**and yes, it's still a solid 4* read, I enjoyed it well enough while reading, so it gets the rating, but clearly, I had some issues with it after closing the cover.
