Rebecca is down on her luck. Her life is a struggle and all she needs is a way out. On her way home from a particularly difficult grocery trip, a car stops and two strangers emerge. A man named Frank offers her a ride. Weary, she is hesitant until Frank’s companion, Aiza, steps out of the car and extends the same offer. What could possibly go wrong? Once in the car, Rebecca’s life changes forever. Will she end up like a butterfly in a cage or will she fly away?

I’ve read several of Joan’s stories and she definitely knows how to draw you in quickly and ramp up the tension. The story is gritty and brutal, but never gets bogged down by either. The writing is as sharp as a knife and the tension zings through you like a bullet. Definitely a great read!
