Book Review - Semi Detached by Deborah Stone

When a book compels you to keep reading then you know it is a good one. From the very first chapter (Part One) of Semi Detached, I knew I was going to enjoy it.

The book starts in 2012 with Clare and Jack but goes back to 22 years before that, where we meet Amanda, Bill and their new neighbours Fiona and Terry. Bill and Amanda are the couple that do not socialise, are quiet, house is drab, whereas Fiona and Terry have the best of everything, a lavish lifestyle.
I liked getting to know each character through the chapters.
However, this is very much a story of you never know what is happening behind closed doors.

The subjects in this book were tough, multiple miscarriages, controlling relationships, suicide and many more. I think the author dealt with all of these subjects well, the way the characters acted and what they said were very believable. I could picture the houses so well it was as though I was there, living that life!

There were a lot of twists in the book, some left my jaw on the floor. The final part of the book was a big WOW for me, I did not expect it at all.
When I say I couldn’t put this book down, I am not kidding. I finished it in two sittings, it would have been one if I had picked it up earlier in the day!

Thank you LoveBookTours and Deborah Stone for allowing me to join the read along, it was so much fun.
