The Dead Children's Playground

This was such an intriguing story! Kylie and her sister Kayla are such strong young ladies and their bond is so amazing being 10 years apart. I can't wait for future American Horror Stories from James.
The tidbit of how he came up with this story made it all the better!

Wow. This definitely completely blew me away. I thought I was just diving into a creepy ghost story, but James Kaine gave me so much more. It was chilling, yes, but also surprisingly emotional. I actually cried at the end, which I did not see coming from a horror novel.

Kylie was such a sweet, brave character, and I loved following her journey after everything she’d been through. The sister relationship with Kayla felt so real , complicated, messy, but full of heart. It gave the story this extra layer that made all the scary stuff hit even harder.

The ghostly playground itself was haunting and unforgettable, but what stuck with me most was the way this book balanced fear and heart. It’s rare to find a horror story that can make me shiver one minute and tear up the next.

Highly, highly recommend. I’ll definitely be grabbing the next book in the American Horrors series.
